Color the Creek mural pays tribute to veterans and Fort Custer

Marshall artist Kimber Thompson paints a Color the Creek mural as a tribute to veterans. Thompson welcomes anyone who wants to stop by to take a look. Natasha Blakely, Battle Creek Enquirer (Photo: Natasha Blakely/Battle Creek Enquirer) Once Kimber Thompson did her first mural, there was no turning back. “I like the impact that it gives and it involves,” Thompson said. “It’s generally done in public, but I like sharing my art with the public and everybody, and it’s challenging too, to take something that’s little on the sheet of paper and make it large.” Thompson had been on the board of what was Greenstreet Arts and is now known as EastEnd Studio and Gallery, but she left the gallery and board in 2012 so that she would have more time to do more bigger pieces. This week, she’s adding a mural in downtown Battle Creek, at 70 E. Michigan Ave., to her portfolio. Thompson is one of the 13 artists participating in Color the Creek , a mural and street art festival in Battle Creek. Her love for mural painting began in 2007.
