‘A painting can draw you in’: Jackson Street Gallery reopens in Ridgeland

Jackson Street Gallery is back in business in Ridgeland, not far from where it was once located. Paula Jackson closed the art gallery in 2011 because she wanted to ensure more time to spend with her aging parents. “I wanted to be available to my mother and daddy,” she said. At age 68, Jackson thought her days of owning a gallery were history, but fate intervened. Jackson Street Gallery established itself for a second life at 500 Highway 51 North in Ridgeland in June. Paula Jackson opened Jackson Street Gallery in Ridgeland in June, giving the gallery a second life after she closed in 2011. The gallery opening came a few months after Jackson and Paula Ohlmeyer, a friend, stopped by Palladian Consign & Design in Ridgeland and discovered the neighboring space that for many years held the Book Shelf, which had closed, was empty. “We walked into Palladian and Kay Fagan, the owner, said, ‘Why don’t you open another gallery?
