Artist Max Goshko-Dankov Unveils The Great Coloring Wall In Beijing

On a recent family visit, I found my three-year old nephew and five-year old niece obsessively coloring the book filled with latest edition of Frozen characters. Nothing could tear them away from the pure joy of filling the space between the lines, in shapes of Elsa and Anna, with bright colors. Somehow their fun triggered a familiar happy feeling, as I recalled my own childhood and the large box of not-so-well-made Soviet ‘crayons’ that used to crumble under the lightest pressure, but nothing stood in a way of carefully finishing each page of the coloring book. Inspired by our global collective childhood memories of endless coloring pages and walls, as well as the rise in adult coloring books , Russian artist Max Goshko-Dankov erects large installations around the world of partially filled intricate patterns and complex compositions of line art. From Tokyo to Istanbul to Miami, the public is allowed to step into the role of the artist, find their inner child, and color the spaces on the canvas intentionally left blank by artist Goshko-Dankov.
