Artist pouring more energy into work

The West End painter is one of more than 40 Manitoba artists taking part in the cre8ery’s annual 99 Pieces of Art on the Wall exhibition, which is on at the gallery (125 Adelaide St.) until Jan. 15. As the name suggests, the show features 99 different pieces of art in a variety of mediums available for purchase for $250 or less. Despite being a serious artist, Webb hasn’t spent a lot of time showing his work publicly. “I am a real painter more than anything else,” he said. “I’ve always had ordinary jobs and I’ve raised a family, but the one thing I’ve done always is painted.” He recently became a member of the cre8ery and said what he appreciates most about the gallery is its down-to-earth atmosphere. “They’re a really friendly bunch of people and it seems quite casual,” Webb said. “I haven’t really been involved in the art scene… quite honestly I don’t find I’m that comfortable in the intellectual part of it. “A lot of people go to art school and they may get taught and develop an […]
