Mural in Robstown restaurant offers patrons chance to show school spirit

A mural in Robstown restaurant MG’s Pizza offers patrons a chance to show some school spirit. (Photo: Len Hayward/Caller-Times) The native Michigander and long-time South Texas resident brainstormed ideas of what to do with the wall that is about 75 feet long and 10 feet high. Garver’s contractor, Robert Gonzales, had suggested doing something involving local schools. Later local businessman Ron Benavidez introduced Garver to Robstown native and former San Antonio-based freelance artist Jessie Flores and the issue was solved. Flores, who has been painting murals for more than 30 years mainly at schools in the San Antonio area, put together a painting that has the names of as many 50 area high schools from Agua Dulce to Woodsboro in their school colors, along with coastal Texas imagery.
