Young artist lauded for Toys for Tots effort

"I wanted to do something for the homeless," said Carlie Passafaro, of Fredon. "I wanted to tape sweets (lollipops) to them and give them out." Her mother, Sarah, explained further, "That didn’t happen. It was too dangerous." So mother and daughter talked about it and came up with using the internet. Carlie would do her art and post it on the internet for people to buy. The proceeds would then be donated to a charity, often of the buyer’s choice. That was two years ago when Carlie was just 7 years old, On Sunday, Carlie was honored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and the Marine Corps League, for her efforts at raising money for the annual Toys for Tots holiday season.
